Clean Air Stoves
One look at the ceiling of this hut will explain why villagers have respiratory problems. With your help, children can grow up without the effects of smoke.
An open fire burns valuable word. Women and children spend hours collecting firewood. The ONIL stove is over 60% more efficient which saves valuable time for villagers.
Mayan villagers have cooked on an open fire for centuries. The smoke from the fire fills the hut and the fires have been a source of numerous burn injuries for children.
Hands For Peacemaking Foundation partners with villagers to provide them with ONIL clean air stoves. Each family that wants a stove enters into a contract with HFPF to pay a portion of the stove costs.
Villagers that choose to install these highly efficient stoves are making a decision for their families to breath easier and rid themselves of the constant smoke from open fires.
Individuals can purchase a stove for a family for a donation of $150.00. Groups can go together and sponsor a village. Hands For Peacemaking can help you find a village size that fits your budget.
There are also opportunities for sponsoring groups to travel to Barillas, Guatemala and assist the villagers with the installation of the stoves.
It is a perfect way to see village life up close and help save lives at the same time.
