Juana Tomas Pedro is a perfect example of how villagers, with a little help, are able to make great improvements in their life. Hands For Peacemaking, through the help of a generous donor, loaned Jauna a small amount of money to establish her candle business.
In her words Juana said “we are getting well known in this area for making candles. Now, we don’t have to spend too much time selling our candles because people come to our hut to purchase them.
From the profits of the candle project, we were able to purchase a cell phone and now we receive calls from our clients requesting candles. We also have purchased chickens and pigs. The extra money has given my husband the ability to purchase more corn, beans and sugar for our family.
From something as simple as candles, HFPF is changing lives.
Eulalia Lorenzo is another example of how a little financial help combined with finding a need in the marketplace, can help a villager work their way out of poverty. She learned how to do embroidery at a training class presented by Hands For Peacemaking. Eulalia and her husband have taken a portion of the profits from making native blouses to plant their own field of cardamom. They also are able to purchase beans and corn for their family.
A donation to Hands For Peacemaking can be key
to help villagers earn their way out of poverty,
one family at a time!
